“Babar Azam”, I don’t think that there is hardly any cricket fan who is not familiar to this name. This star batsman is representing Pakistan team in all three formats of cricket. Babar Azam is currently at no.1 place in T20I batsman ranking and is also the only player to average 50+ in both ODI and T20I. Anyhow, his test career start wasn’t as much satisfactory as it was in limited overs cricket. But, with time he proved himself reliable for this format of cricket as well and shut the critics for once and for all.
He bats at no.5 position in test cricket and has 1 century and 11 fifties in his account. So far, he has represented Pakistan in 40 innings of 21 test matches averaging 35.3 and his highest score in an inning is 127*. Babar Azam wants to bring his limited overs charisma to Test cricket. He says,” I definitely feel like there is more to come from me in first-class and test cricket.”
As we all know, Babar is currently playing T20 blast in UK for Somerset county cricket. He has been outstanding with his batting averaging 62 after scoring 434 runs in 9 innings. He also scored an unbeaten century off 55 balls that lead his team to victory. In an interview to Somerset cricket website he said:
I have done okay in white ball game recently, but I really want to prove myself in Test cricket. So, I will be doing my best to achieve my goals in this format.”
He further mentioned:
“I am really looking forward to playing a County Championship match for Somerset at Edgbaston. Hopefully, I can score a few runs and help Somerset win the match. I know the club is close to winning that first title, so fingers crossed I can play a small part in this.”
Babar Azam has to play remarkably well in Test Cricket as he does in limited over cricket, if he wants to get wins for Pakistan in Test format.
